Phillip Lemont Walk

Mr. Phillip LeMont Walk was born in Meridian, MS to the union of Lee Phillip Walk and Maxine Terrell-Walk on December 18, 1969.  He dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at Cornerstone Church of God.

Phillip, affectionately called Mont by family and friends, received his education at Southeast Lauderdale school where he graduated in 1989.   Upon completion of High School Mont pursued his love for cooking and worked at several local restaurants as a kitchen manager.  In 1991 Mont met the love of his life, Dawn Joles, and they married in 1997.  Once the couple began to start a family he left the restaurant business to join the family business, American Paving, which he continued to do until his health began to fail.  Of Mont and Dawn’s union of 28 years came two children, Lexus Ann Walk and Nicolas Jaden Walk.

All Monts life he loved to fill his free time with a love for hunting, fishing, and training his beloved Belgian Malinois, Niko.  He also never lost his love for cooking and used every family gathering as an opportunity to show off his skills in the kitchen and on the Bar B Que grill.  Mont touched so many lives with his infectious smile and kind heart.  He was a true friend to all he encountered and never met a stranger.  He was always the one person in the room that could put a smile on anyone’s face with his silly and jovial personality.  He loved his immediate and extended family with all his heart and spent everyday of his life showing them that they were his complete focus.  He was the glue of the family and he truly only wanted to see everyone happy.  Phillip was one of a kind and there will never be another like him.

On May 18, 2019 at home, surrounded by his loving family, Phillip entered eternal rest, when he was called home by the Lord. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents David and Evelyn Terrell, his paternal grandparents Clemon Walk and Flora Mae Walk.

Phillip will be eternally remembered by his wife Dawn Joles-Walk and three children; Philana Henderson, Lexus Ann Walk, and Nicolas Jaden Walk all of Meridian.  He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Maxine Thomas, his father Lee Phillip Walk, his brother and best friend Donald “DD” Walk, his two sisters Pamela (Harold) Walk-Alford, and Yvette “Coco” Walk all of Meridian.  Phillip leaves to cherish his memory his in laws who became more like parents to him; Frank and Beverly Joles, as well as his brother-in-law, who became more like a real brother, Frank Joles, Jr., He will also be remembered by Stella Joles and Shawn Joles as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Memorial services for Phillip LeMont Walk will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. with service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God with Pastor Clarence Tilghman and Rev. C.L. Walk officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
