Rachel Nester

Graveside services for Mrs. Rachel Nester will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2025, at Meridian Memorial Park with Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Nester, 91, of Meridian, died Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Northpointe Health and Rehab after an extended illness.

With over 30 years of dedicated service, Rachel retired as the staff beautician at East Mississippi State Hospital, she touched the lives of countless clients with her skill and warm personality. Even after retiring, Mrs. Nester continued her passion for cosmetology by working from home into her early 80’s, always cherishing the weekly visits with her clients. A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church, she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Rachel’s caring nature and commitment to her work will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Mrs. Rachel is survived by her son, Don Nester (Teresa); her grandchildren, Tyson Pompelia (Cole) and Amanda Fekete; her great-grandchildren, Parker Pompelia, Ty Jacob Pompelia, and Sage Pompelia; her sister, Annette Sumner, and her niece, Cynthia Harris (Leon), as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Mrs. Nester is preceded in death by her parents, O.D. and Minnie Key Davis.

The Nester Family suggests memorials be made as donations to Calvary Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
