Ramona Matthews

Funeral services for Mrs. Ramona Matthews will be held Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Bates and Rev. Glen Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Ramona Matthews, age 70, of Meridian, MS passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at her home.

Ramona's gift was helping people and that led her to become a special education teacher's assistant for the Meridian Public Schools. She was also a caretaker for her dad and her aunt. Ramona was an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing cards, working crossword and jig saw puzzles. She and Danny loved to travel to The Great Smoky Mountains.

As a teenager Ramona was an active member of Parkview Church of God and as a young adult she served with the Youth Ministry. Later in life she joined Collinsville First Baptist Church, serving in different mission activities with her Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Danny Matthews, her daughter Karen Williams (Joey), her son Josh Matthews (Natalie), grandchildren; Hayden Williams, Ashlan Williams, and Conner Matthews, brother, Val Rosales Jr. (Beth), and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Val Rosales Sr. and Pauline Rosales and her brother, Frank Rosales.

The family request memorials be made to The American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Josh Matthews, Hayden Williams, Scott Rosales, Doug Bearden, Tommy Matthews, and Enrique Carbia.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
