Rebecca Turner Booker

Funeral services for Rebecca Booker, 79, of Butler, Alabama, will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Needham Assembly of God with Sis. Andrea Sprinkle; Bro. Scott Deaton; and Bro. Eric Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Brightwater Cemetery with Bro. Lester Pope and Bro. Kevin Luker officiating.

Rebecca was born July 14, 1944, in Needham, Alabama, to Leonard Odell Turner and Christine Manley Turner. She was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from Choctaw County High School in 1962, and following graduation she went to work at Vanity Fair in Butler where she worked until it closed in 1996. She met the love of her life, Jimmie Booker, following the death of his first wife.  Jimmie and Rebecca were married in July of 1976. Although Rebecca was unable to have biological children of her own, through her marriage to Jimmie, God blessed her with three sons, Mickey, Perry, and Roger. She could have never loved a biological child more than she loved these three boys. They were her life. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Rebecca, who has been known through the years as "Becky" to many, "Aunt Rootabecka" to her nieces and nephews, and even "Aunt-Grandmaw" to Andrea, was a strong willed woman who had a heart of gold. She was very feisty but loved with all of her heart. You could always find her busy, working in her church and community along with always mothering her siblings, nieces, and nephews and taking care of others.

Survivors include her three sons, Mickey Booker (Laura); Perry Booker (Rechell); and Roger Booker (Melita); grandchildren, Andrea Sprinkle (Patrick); Lee Booker (Lora); Summer Wiley (Trent); John Patrick Booker (Jessica); and Autumn Wilkins (Whit), great grandchildren, Aliannah Sprinkle; AJ Wiley; Arielle Wiley; and Hampton Booker; siblings, Ronald Turner (Evie); Lanelle Deaton; Raola Shoemaker; Iris Holifield (Tim); and Laura Booker (Mickey); and many nieces and nephews and other close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Christine Turner; husband of 37 years, Jimmie Booker; sister, Alice Wright; and niece, Kristina Skinner.

Serving as pallbearers are her great-nephews, Jeremy Shoemaker, Cody Shoemaker, Dillon Roberts; William Skinner, Jr., Isaiah Skinner, Ethan Ray; Garhett Ray; Alex Harris; and Aidan Harris. Honorary Pallbearers are her nephews and nephews-in-law.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Needham Assembly of God Ladies' Ministry or Branch Church of God.

Visitation will be at Needham Assembly of God Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
