Reta Jean Brown Morland Funeral services for Reta Jean Brown Morland will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Kevin Jones, Brother Paul Harris, and Brother Jack Kern officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Morland, age 85, went to her heavenly home from her beloved sunporch surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Reta loved the Lord; she was a charter member of State Blvd and now Faith Baptist Church. She loved being in her Sunday school class. She loved her family and her greatest joy was cooking for family gatherings and was famous for her fried chicken. She enjoyed camping and traveling with BL and the grandchildren. She was the only girl of seven children. Her mother died when she was eleven and she assumed the role of mother to her three younger brothers and that instilled in her the motherly instinct that continued the rest of her life. She is survived by her husband of 69 ½ years, Buelan (BL) Morland; daughter, Judy Strickland (Wallace); son, Jerry Morland (Susie); brother, Norris Brown (Becky); grandson, Perry Morland (Bev); granddaughter, Julie Strickland (Jeff); grandson, Jason Strickland (Tiffany); great-grandson, Christian Morland; step-grandchildren, Miranda, Daniella, Matthew, Justice, and Gavin; special nieces and nephew, Sherri, Mary Nell, Sharon, Danny; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved very much. She was preceded in death by parents, John L. and Mary Williams Brown; brothers, JD, Bob, Preston, Mack, Wilford, and David; and her son, Tommy Morland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund or your favorite charity. Pallbearers will be Bruce Clopton, Cole Clopton, Al Mitchell, Elliot Brewer, Fred Rogers, and JD Neal. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
