Reverend Towfig Salim Batarseh Funeral services for Rev. Towfig Batarseh will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bobby Barfoot officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Batarseh, age 74, of Meridian, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Rev. Batarseh was born in Jordan on January 30, 1941. He came to the United States in 1968 where he graduated from Mississippi College in 1971 and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1975. Rev. Batarseh returned to Jordan to pastor for two years. Upon returning to Mississippi in 1977, he pastored as a Baptist minister retiring in 2004 after pastoring Trinity Baptist Church for 27 years. He was affectionately known by his children as "Papa" and by grandchildren as "Papa Toto". He first loved the Lord Jesus Christ. With complete devotion, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending many hours attending ballgames and school events for his children. As a pastor, he worked hard to prepare and deliver God's message and focused his time and attention on caring for the needs of his congregation. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia Batarseh; sons, Dr. David Batarseh, Jonathan Batarseh and wife Dr. Karim Batarseh; grandchildren, Christian, Madison, Angel, Carlos, and Alejandra; brothers, Eid, Yousef, and Shaker; and sisters, Naheel, Nawal, Layla, Noha, and Nohila. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salim and Jamileh Batarseh and oldest brother, Issa Batarseh. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
