A Worship and Celebration service for Reid Whittington will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with, Reverend Dr. Joe Anderson, Reverend Wade Ricks, and Reverend Stephen Ferrand officiating. Burial will be in Hamrick Cemetery in Collinsville, MS.

Rev. Whittington, 71, of Collinsville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home.

Reid was a graduate of Mississippi College. He also was a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s Degree in Religious Education and a Doctorate in Education/Psychology and Counseling. He served as Chaplain at East Mississippi State Hospital for twenty five years. Reid also served in multiple ministerial roles in various churches and Associations in Mississippi and Alabama during his many years of Ministry.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Chance Whittington, daughter, Lori Whittington Rank (Jeff), Sons, Chance Reid Whittington (Alicia), and Nick A. Whittington (Hope). Grandchildren, Katelynn Whittington, Eli Rank, Weston Whittington, Cody Whittington, and Noah Rank. Sister, Nicki Smith (Tommy) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anita N. Whittington, and Howard Reid Whittington, Sr.

Family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society (Hope Lodge) and Building Fund of First Baptist Church, Collinsville.

Pallbearers will be Joey Bass, Wallace Heggie, Lee Miles, Kevin Null, Ronnie Null, Charles Stewart, Randy Skipper, and Gene Tompkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of the Empty Nester’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Collinsville.
