Reverend John J. Jacob Services for Reverend John J. Jacob will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend J. J. Jacob officiating. Burial will be Monday, October 14, 2103, at 10:00 a.m.at the Mississippi Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Newton. Reverend Jacob, 75, of Collinsville died Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was born into a Jewish family in East Berlin, Germany in 1938. Narrowly escaping the horrors of the Holocaust, he fled with his family to Shanghia, China. After nine years of refuge he came to America by way of a naval vessel. At the age of twenty-seven he met his Messiah and accepted the call to ministry which eventually led him to Meridian, Mississippi to pastor First Assembly of God and retired from Grace Church of Collinsville in 2007 Survivors include his wife, Diane Jacob of Collinsville; daughters, Gail Jacob Bandy of Wills Point, Texas and Karen Jacob of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Reverend J. J. Jacob and wife Twyla of Collinsville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and brother, Irving Jacob of North Ridge, California. He was preceded in death by his parents Heinz and Gerda Jacob. The family requests memorials be made to Footprints Adult Day Services in Newton, 851 Northside Drive, Newton, MS.
