Funeral services for Reverend Carlisle will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Brother Malcolm Lewis and Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

Reverend Carlisle, age 83, of Meridian, passed away March 26 at his home.

Roger was an entrepreneur, but his true calling was as a minister of the Gospel for fifty-eight years. He pastored churches in Alabama and Indiana, where he was a church planter, and last served at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian. He was a member of First Baptist Church Lauderdale in Lauderdale, MS. Roger was an avid fisherman and was the owner and publisher of the original Mississippi Woods and Waters Magazine. His children and grandchildren, which he referred to as his “hippity-hops”, meant the world to him, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. His love and faithfulness will be deeply missed.

He’s survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mazelle Carlisle; children, Roger (Lynn) Carlisle, Jr., Sarah Evans, Sandra Bishop, Wanda (Wayne) Allen, and Chester (Kathy) Carlisle; grandchildren, Jamie Burt, Stacey Underwood, Jennifer Michael, Heather Mann, Sonya Evans, Alana Watson, Mark Bishop, Sharon Beeman, Steven Buck, Wesley Carlisle, and Kelly Saunders, and numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Wendell (Kay) Carlisle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edith Carlisle; brother, Casper Carlisle; and son-in-law, Alan Bishop.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Carlisle, Hunter Carlisle, Tim Carlisle, Joey Burt, Anthony Mann, and Lucky Underwood.
