Reverend Thomas Jewell Wood

Graveside services for Reverend Thomas Jewell Wood will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, with Bro. Kyle Naylor and Bro. Jack Kern officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Rev. Wood, age 94, of Meridian passed away July 19, 2018 at Bedford Care Center of Marion.

For many years, Reverend Wood pastored Briarwood and Salem Baptist Churches. He was a lover of people, and he enjoyed traveling. Rev. Wood was a firm believer in education, earning two doctorates, one in Theology and one for life insurance (CLU). He was a firm believer in treating others with respect and kindness.

Rev. Wood is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Evelyn Cutrer Wood; children, Pamela Harris (Charles) and Thomas Joseph “Joe” Wood (Tanya); and one grandchild, Holley Anne Harris.

Rev. Wood was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson Wood and Lucy McGhee Wood and one brother, Charles Wood.

The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Marion.
