Revis Ray Joiner, II

Funeral services for Ray Joiner, II will be held Thursday, August 11 at 1:30 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator at 3825 35th Avenue in Meridian, with the Reverend Michael “Corky” Carlisle officiating.

Mr. Revis Ray Joiner, II, age 66, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away on Monday, August 8 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ray was born in Meridian in 1949 to Ray and Margie Joiner. He attended Mississippi State University where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.  While in college, he married his junior high sweetheart, love of his life and best friend, Deborah Ann Hearn.  After graduation, he returned home to join the family hotel, construction and hospitality business.  In 1976, he began an impressive presidential advance career, serving the campaigns of Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.  He was active in local and state politics and always eager to discuss the latest political news with anyone he met.  He was a member of the Southeast Tourism Society , Board Member of the Meridian Little Theatre and an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator.  Ray was extremely proud of his three children, R. Ray, Lauren and Brad.  Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hearn Joiner of Meridian, MS; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ed Falcon of Trenton, South Dakota; sister and brother-in- law, Champee and Bill Kemp, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Kay Joiner of Meridian, MS; son and daughter-in-law, R. Ray and Caroline Joiner of Austin, Texas and grandchildren, Hudson and Harper Joiner; son Henry Bradford Joiner of Meridian, MS; daughter, Lauren Claire Joiner and Karegin Piliposyan of Woodland Hills, California; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. Ray and Margie Joiner.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 3825 35th Avenue, Meridian, MS 39305.  In keeping with Ray’s loving and generous spirit, the family also encourages all friends and family members to become organ and tissue donors.

Visitation will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator on Thursday, August 11 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
