Richard "Lou" Barrett

Services for Mr. Richard "Lou" Barrett will be held at 11:30AM, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Father Augustine officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30PM, at the Newton Mississippi Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Lou Barrett, age 95, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Lou spent 24 years serving in the Marine Corp. He had many accomplishments in life, his biggest was when he went from Private to Lieutenant Colonel. Lou served in the Korean and Vietnam war. After many years of service, Lou became a flight instructor at NAS Meridian. Later in life, he spent his free time following the stock market and taking care of his rental homes. He also loved volunteering at Aldersgate, especially driving the community bus and helping in any Catholic events. Lou was an outstanding man who loved his family and friends and will forever be dearly missed.

Lou Barrett is survived by his children, Jim Barrett (Gina), Rick Barrett, and Cheryl Converse (Phil); grandchildren, Jimmy Barrett (Rachel), John Barrett; great-grandchildren, Bella Barrett and Rose Barrett; significant other, Margaret Johnson, and extended family members.

Lou is preceded in death by parents, Dr. James and Eleanor Barrett; one brother, Jim Barrett, and one sister, Sally Barrett.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations be made to Aldersgate Retirement Community.

The Barrett family will receive guest from 10:00AM until 11:15AM prior to funeral services at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
