Richard Gerald Johnson, Sr. Services for Richard Gerald Johnson, Sr. will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, with the Reverend Thomas Wood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Johnson, 70, of Kewanee died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a Marine and served in the Korean War. Mr. Johnson retired from Roadway Trucking in 2001 and he also worked as a general contractor and a farmer. Mr. Johnson was a big fan of Old Western Movies. Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Kathy R. Johnson of Kewanee, Richard Johnson, Jr. and his wife Shrea of Kewanee, James Todd Johnson of Hattiesburg, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Virginia of Savannah, Georgia, Rhonda Denise Smith and Jeff of Guntown, Mississippi, Darren H. Smith and his wife Jan of Kewanee; grandchildren Tori Johnson, Jake Smith, Caleb Harper Johnson, Ryan Smith, and Olivia Johnson; sisters Margaret Barlow of Meridian, Pauline Shelton of Kewanee and Judy Gambill of Kewanee; brothers John Johnson and David Johnson both of Kewanee and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Samuel Johnson; brothers James Johnson, Roger Johnson, J.B. Johnson, Jr. and Eugene Johnson; sisters Inez Cooper, Lottie Wieloch and Clara Wright; parents J. B. and Lena Buckalew Johnson. The family request that memorials be made to Anderson Oncology Benevolence Fund and Salem Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be James Smith, Charles Nowell, Charles Black, Mike Smith, Bill Danielson, Andy Wright and Roger Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be R. W. Shelton, Abe Ward, Roland Wright, Jimmy Roberson, Wayne Wright, and members of Salem Creek Hunting Club.
