John Richard "Richie" Brown Services for Richie Brown will be held Sunday, January 3, 2009 at 2:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Jack Giles and Frank Kirtley officiating. Burial will be at the Brown Pine Forest Cemetery in Chunky, MS, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brown, 41, of Chunky, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at his residence. "Dream as if you will live forever, live as if you will die today" (James Dean). Richie lived by this motto. He was a risk taker, always living on the edge. He was all of the following and many more: world traveler, sports adventurer, snow skier (even in the French Alps), water skier, hunter, fisherman, carpenter, builder, financier, fighter of many battles (some won, some lost), cook, videographer and photographer of animals in the wild, player of many sports including baseball, basketball, football, golf, swimming, shooting sports (superb marksmanship); entrepreneur, employer, college graduate, member of Wheelin Sportsmen and Outdoors Without Limits, was a husband, hunted and collected rare exotic wild animals from Argentina to Alaska and many places in between. He always lived his life to the fullest living up to his motto. He loved to be surrounded by those who loved him. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Lamar Academy in Meridian, MS and also received a Business Management Degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. He was also a member of Hickory United Methodist Church. Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Jean Meaders Brown of Chunky, brother, Dr. Brent Brown of Atlanta, GA, grandmother, Olive Meaders of Hickory, aunts and uncles, Butch Meaders, Sr, of Meridian, Anna Battle and her husband Ronnie of Philadelphia, Emily Craven and her husband Mark of Collinsville, Jimmy Brown and his wife Eunice of Prosperity, FL, Lorene Bickham and her husband Bob of Chunky, Linda Carroll and her husband Hollis of Chunky, numerous cousins and friends, special caregiver, Vicky Sawyer and his beloved chocolate lab, "Buck". He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Meaders, Jr., Arthur Brown and Ora Ida Brown, uncle Greg Meaders, and cousin Nick Brown. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Outdoors Without Limits and The Magnolia Speech School, 733 Flag Chapel Rd., Jackson, MS 39209. Pallbearers will be Chris Crowe, Dr. David McGrew, Steve Sims, Dr. John Felder, Ed Madden, Don Chancellor, Allen Hart, Mathew Bickham. Honorary pallbearers are Brian McCary, Charlie Harrison and Scott Therrell and Wayne Powell. Visitation will be held Saturday 5 8 at the funeral home.
