Memorial services for Rick Hasselle Sr. will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend Davey Wilkinson and Reverend Jody Pittman officiating.
Mr. Hasselle, age 59, of Marion, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Rick Hasselle Sr. was an iconic Volkswagen restoration specialist, having spent nearly five decades plying his trade. He was also an accomplished wood worker, firearm enthusiast, and avid outdoorsman. He was always willing to advise and help others. Equally as important was his devotion to his friends and family, especially towards his grandchildren. He rarely missed the opportunity to become a fun prankster, and was a master of the quick witted one line response. He had a tireless work ethic, and thirty years of experience of business ownership gave him the preparation and endurance to deal with the health challenges he was facing. His faith was a guiding inspiration of strength and hope for the health struggles that lay ahead and the battles he faced on a day to day basis. Rick has been a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church for eleven years.
He is survived by his wife, Nannette Hasselle; sons, Rick Hasselle Jr. (Claire) and Jason Hasselle (Emily); grandchildren, Katie Hasselle, Gibson Hasselle, Michael Hasselle, and Beau Hasselle; brother, Bill Hasselle Jr.; sisters, Chere Freeman and Marilee Wells (Vernon); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hasselle Sr.; mother, Sally Hatcher; and niece, Deshea Hasselle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
