Mrs. Hill, 91, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Aldersgate Personal Care.
Rida Massingale Hill was born in Quitman, Mississippi on May 15, 1922. Her parents were Joe and Annie Massingale. She attended Quitman Public Schools for thirteen years without any absences. In high school she played the French horn in the band. She continued to love music throughout her life. Mrs. Hill met her husband, Robert E. Hill, at a Quitman High School football game in 1940 and they were married on August 9, 1941 in Meridian, Mississippi. Mrs. Hill was a mother and homemaker. After rearing her four sons, she volunteered at Rush Hospital for several years and then at Riley Hospital for thirty years. Mrs. Hill attended First Baptist Church of Quitman until moving to Meridian. She then attended First Baptist Church of Meridian where she has been an active member for sixty years. Mrs. Hill served in many capacities and ministries within the church.
The family expresses immeasurable appreciation to the staff of Aldersgate Personal Care for their care and support. Also, the family offers special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Rhonda Wilson and her nurses for care far beyond the call of duty.
She is survived by her husband of seventy two years, Robert E. Hill, Sr.; sons, Robert (Bob) E. Hill, Jr. (Alice), George L. Hill (Susan), Jerry H. Hill (Beth) and Harold L. Hill (Betsy) all of Meridian. Grandchildren, Jonathan Hill (Ashley) of Birmingham, Alabama, Cecily H. Lowe (Brad) of Birmingham, Alabama, Benjamin Hill (Lauren), Elizabeth H. Anderson, Dustin Hill (Ashley), Jace Hill (An Howard) and Harrison Hill all of Meridian, Todd Waite of Hattiesburg, Andy Waite of Starkville and Libby Waite of Meridian; nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Annie Massingale; brothers, Joe Massingale, Jr. and George Massingale and niece, Johanna Massingale.
The family request memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Meridian or Aldersgate Personal Care.
Pallbearers will be , Jonathan Hill, Benjamin Hill, Dustin Hill, Jace Hill, Harrison Hill, Todd Waite, Andy Waite and Brad Lowe.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Meridian.
