Mr. Payne, 83, of Lauderdale, died Monday, April 15, 2024, at his home.
Bobby was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life; He was a jack of all trades who could solve the world’s problems with just a few thoughts. He enjoyed tractors, dozers, farm equipment, working on his equipment, with his son Robert by his side, and spending time outdoors. He was gifted with steady hands, which he used to repair everything from the minute workings of pocket watches and guns to working on his tractors and equipment. His passion was working outdoors on his farm, and spending time on his family property. He was a man of God, and his faith was first and foremost in his life; he made sure to share the gospel to all he met.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Lynda Payne; children, Robert E. Payne, III (Paula), Mary Elizabeth Payne–Brewer (Larry), Tripp Ward (Natalie), and Justin Ward (Kasey). Grandchildren, Joel Payne (Lana), Kannon Ward, Emma Ward, Presley Ward, Hampton Ward, and Sailer Ward; great-grandchildren, Duncan, Kaitlyn, Mila, Roman, and Luna; his siblings, William N. “Bill” Payne (Connie), and Katherine Cole; Mother-in-law Saranel Clayton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Payne is preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Payne, Sr. and Edith Payne.
The Payne Family suggests memorials be made as donations to the American Diabetes Foundation in lieu of flowers.
Pallbearers will be Justin Ward, Tripp Ward, Cliff Clayton, Lewis Clayton, Trey Clayton, E.W. Goodwin, Jim Wilson, with Joel Payne, Bobby Barrett, Ralph McDaniel, and Tommy Williams serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
