Robert Hunter "Bob" Harmon, Jr.

Robert Hunter “Bob” Harmon, Jr., 72, of Meridian passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Trend Health and Rehab of Meridian. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Harmon was born on June 30, 1947 in Meridian, Mississippi, to Mary Jane Sherman Harmon and Robert Hunter Harmon, Sr. He graduated from Meridian High School, Class of 1965. He was a Demolay. After graduating from High School, Mr. Hamon attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received a BS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. After graduating from college, he worked in the field of Information Technology for major companies in different cities. During this time, he lived in Mobile, Alabama, Montgomery, Alabama, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Covington, Tennessee.

Bob earned a private pilot’s license and is pictured landing at Key Field in Meridian after cross country flight. He loved riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He had a commercial driver’s license and was a driver of the Church of the Mediator’s bus.

Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Harmon of Meridian; his cousins, Jane Woodward Wilkinson of Jacksonville, Florida, Allen (Eileen) Woodward of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sally Sherman (Will) Brown of Jackson, Mississippi, Tom Sherman Woodward of Atlanta, Georgia, David (Linda) Woodward of Tallahassee, Florida, Frank (Michelle) Woodward of Naples, Florida, Diana Woodward of Naples, Florida, and Dr. Kathy Harmon (John) Baxter of Meridian.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his maternal grandparents, Mary Allen McBride Sherman and John Thomas Sherman; his paternal grandparents, Margaret Willis Terry Harmon and Frederick Buckner Harmon.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, with The Reverend Morris Thompson, III officiating.
