Robert Edward Hartfield (Poppy) Graveside services for Robert Edward Hartfield (Poppy) will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Michael Hartfield officiating. Fellowship will immediately follow at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Mr. Hartfield, age 88, of Meridian, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the home of his granddaughter, Kristin, surrounded by loved ones. Robert was born July 30, 1926 in Hattiesburg, MS to Robert and Aubie Hartfield. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a long time retired employee of Smith's Bakery. Robert was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church. He had recently lived for many years of his life in Nashville, TN near his granddaughter Kristin (and Nate) then came home to his birthplace in Hattiesburg, MS where he spent time with his daughter Sherry, his brothers and sisters, and extended family including niece Kathy (and Jeff) and great-nephew, Jacob. Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Williams Evans; sister, Frances; brothers, Danny, Charles and Lonnie; granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristin (Nate), Stephanie (Josh), and Kelly; eleven great-grandchildren, Justin, Garreth, Sean, Tiffanie, Kaygen, Sunny, Cameron, Nicholas, Hayden, and Ava; and five great-great-grandchildren, Kamyra, Kitahna, Jada, Garren, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nell Stuart Hartfield; parents; brother, Andrew; and son-in-law, George. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
