Robert Leslie Moore On August 14, 2011, Robert Leslie Moore, 88, lifelong resident of Meridian, went to be with his Lord. Leslie was born on January 26, 1923 in Meridian to Lora and W.C. Moore. He was one of six children. He was raised in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School. Leslie was a member of Central Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. After he returned from the service he married Dorothy Jean Jones on January 1, 1948. Leslie worked in the Lauderdale County Tax Assessor's office for forty years including twenty-four as Tax Assessor. He also worked at Home Federal Savings and Loan for five years after he retired from the Tax Assessor's office. He was a member of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the East Mississippi Council. Leslie was an active Shriner and Mason having served as Master of Sts. John Masonic Lodge 618. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, was a member of the Meridian York Rite Bodies and for many years worked on the Ritualistic Team of Hamasa Temple. He served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the State of Mississippi in 1983. Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill, and his sister Ida Mae Moore. He is survived by his wife Dorothy and their two sons, Leslie, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Utica, and Jim and his wife Tracy of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dana Bivings and her husband Kevin of Laronger, Louisiana, Chris Moore and his wife Jennifer of Hattiesburg, Casey Moore and his wife Courtney of Brandon, and Courtney and Connor Moore both of Houston, Texas along with six great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles and his wife Mary of Crystal Springs, Preston of Meridian, and Jack and his wife Bobbie of Enterprise along with numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Robert Barham Family Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, August 17, 2011 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Bob Null and will be held at the same location on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with a Grand Lodge Masonic graveside service to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
