Robert Lee "Bob" Richmond, 87, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Lee and Bertha Sorenson Richmond; brothers, Clifford Virgil Richmond (Florence), Palmer Melvin Richmond (Judy), and Edward Stanley "Skip" Richmond; his son, Brian Richmond; and his beloved wife, Peggy Harvey Richmond.
Bob was a man of unwavering faith, incredible humor, and boundless love for his family. He is survived by his son, Tim Richmond (Joyce); his daughters, Vicki Palmer Owens (Tony) and Susan Palmer Bryant (Paul); grandson Aaron Richmond; great-granddaughter Kendall Richmond; his sister-in-law, Marcy Richmond; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; his loyal friend and caretaker, LaBresha King-Smith; and his faithful companion, Kane the schnauzer, who was always by his side.
Born and raised with a strong sense of duty and service, Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. His commitment to service continued long after his retirement, as he always offered a helping hand and wise counsel to those around him. A graduate of Mississippi State University in 1979, Bob was a lifelong supporter of his alma mater, and he carried with him a deep sense of pride in his achievements and the relationships he forged along the way.
Though Bob's accomplishments were many, it was his love for his family and friends that truly defined him. His family was the center of his world. He never missed a chance to offer a word of encouragement, share a laugh, or offer guidance with a heart full of love.
Bob had a passion for life that extended to many pursuits. A lover of golf, he spent countless hours on the greens with friends, and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, always following their games with enthusiasm and pride. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he lived it out each day through his actions, words, and genuine care for others. He found great joy in singing hymns in church, even if he couldn't quite carry a tune. If you happened to sit beside him, you were guaranteed to be off-key too—but that never mattered to Bob. For him, it was the joyful act of worship, not perfection, that counted. His strong belief that "you can’t get through life without a sense of humor" sustained him through both the good times and the hard ones. And he practiced that belief every day, filling those around him with laughter and joy until his final moments.
Though his absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him, Bob's legacy lives on in the love he gave, the wisdom he imparted, and the humor he shared. His strong faith, commitment to family, and infectious laughter and smile will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Bob's memory.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Bryant, Tony Owens, Aaron Richmond, Tim Richmond, and Jeff Seaver. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ronnie Harvey.
