Mr. Thompson, 59, of Meridian passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital of Meridian.
Robert was a joy to all who knew him; Robert was truly a shining light of goodness. There will never be a more gentle, kind, or loving soul; he grew up in an active family of four siblings who could always be found involved in sports. He was a master billiard player and active gamer. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Meridian. Robert worked at Southern Publishing Company helping out in all areas and could always be found making coffee every day at 3pm. He spent his teen years competing in the Special Olympics, medaling in track & field, as well as, swimming. Robert loved to entertain, dance, sing, and enjoyed all things country music. Robert was also a fanatic of James Bond, and George Straight, and loved looking just as sharp as they do; he prided himself as a “Sharp dressed man.”
Robert is survived by his mother, Thelma Gunn Thompson; sisters, Jena Thompson Abrams, and Tracy Thompson Bourgeois (Jim). Nieces, Kelly Abrams, Casey Abrams Henderson, Brandi Bland (Ryan); nephews, Cody Abrams (Natasha), Austin Aucoin. Great-nieces, Lexie Henderson, Lilly Grace Henderson, Marley Jay Abrams, Sophia Abrams, Zoey Abrams, Avaleigh Abrams, and Adalynn Claire Bland; and one great-nephew, Thomas Aucoin.
Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Thompson; and one sister, Cindy Thompson Aucoin.
The Thompson family requests memorials be made as donations to the National Association for Down Syndrome at www.nads.org in lieu of flowers.
