Roger M Davidson

Graveside services for Mr. Roger M. Davidson will begin at 2:30 PM Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Old Marion Cemetery with Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Davidson, 80, of Russell, died Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

First and foremost, Roger was a Christian man who served others as a deacon for many years at Russell Baptist Church and Carmel Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of the Carmel Baptist Men’s Sunday School Class. Roger was a kindhearted, gentle man who persevered with a “Never give up attitude” in spite of his pain and physical limitations.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. One of his greatest joys in life was passing on his love of the outdoors to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved us all unconditionally, he loved us well. Roll Tide!

Roger is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Davidson; children, Sherry Chaney, Lisa Webb (Mark), Eddie Matfey; grandchildren, Allyson Butler (Travis), Brock Chaney (Brittney), Nikki Harrington, Jade Matfey, and Stephanie Mimbs; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Burch, Martha Moretti (Tom); as well as numerous nieces, and nephews, and his fur baby, Bama.

Mr. Davidson is preceded in death by his parents Luke and Hazel Davidson; his son, John Harrington, III; and his grandson, John Harrington, IV.

The Davidson Family suggests memorials be made as donations to Carmel Baptist Church in addition to flowers.
