Ronald “Ronnie” Edward Chambers, of Meridian, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on August 19, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. His death is not just sorrowful, but one of rejoicing. Well into his twenties, Mr. Chambers surrendered his life by grace through faith to Jesus and is now standing before the Throne of Christ, worshipping Him in completion, and without any confusion.
Mr. Chambers, born November 2, 1954, to Edward and Joan Chambers, was the eldest of five brothers and sisters. After graduating high school, he attended vocational college for drafting. He married his wife, Linda, in 1980, and they celebrated 46 years. Together, they had two children, Nicholas and Kristina. Ronnie faithfully loved his wife and was devoted to his children, always attending their soccer games or cross-country matches, and encouraging them to do their best academically. He was proud to be called “Grandpa” and loved being around his grandchildren.
Mr. Chambers was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, serving on the fellowship committee and in the preschool and elementary Sunday School classes. He joyfully served in the kitchen and behind the scenes for church-wide gatherings. While he worked at various companies in Meridian and Philadelphia, his last 20 years were at Fairbanks Scales. However, as a side job, Mr. Chambers thoroughly enjoyed drafting house plans and renovation plans for smaller churches.
What many may not know about Ronnie is that he found complex puzzles relaxing, made phenomenal Martha Washington balls, and enjoyed keeping up with the latest house-plan designs and remodeling. He would often stop by construction sites and walk through them to imagine how they were designed. What was widely known about Ronnie was that he loved decorating for Christmas, not leaving one inch of the interior or exterior of the house untouched, and cared deeply for the maintenance of his yard and enjoyed gardening.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Nicholas (Erika); daughter, Kristina (Drew); his grandchildren, Julianna, Nick, William, Olivia, Gabriella, Lottie, and Waylon; his sisters and brothers, Terry Chambers (Melanie), Cherri Townsend (Tim), Cindy Chambers, and Ricky Chambers; his mother-in-law, Annette Stone; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Ray (O.B.), Janice Brown (Clark), and Melanie Sheely (Eddie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary McCledon; his niece, Virginia McCledon; and his parents, Edward and Joan Chambers.
If you would like to celebrate Mr. Ronnie's life, please consider donating to the Lauderdale County Baptist Association's Helping Hands Food Pantry, in lieu of flowers.
His end of life was full of support from friends, family, and members of FABC. His brother-in-law, Eddie; his neighbors, Nydia, and Jerry; the dedicated staff at Compassus Hospice selflessly assisted in caring for him in his final months; the sitters of Servant’s Heart Home Care, as well as the Staff of Accent Care Home Health and Deaconess Home Health over the last four years. The last five years would not have been possible without each of your meals, hours sitting with him, and time caring for his physical needs; as well as your phone calls and prayers. His family is immensely grateful for each of you.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Rick Green officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
