Ruby Johnson Reese Services for Ruby Johnson Reese will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joe Anderson and Reverend Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Reese, 92 of Meridian died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at her residence. In her forty two years as an educator she was a teacher at several different schools. She was a Principal at Southside Elementary and Crestwood Elementary. She was also the Elementary Curriculum Director for Meridian Public Schools. She was very passionate about education and took a leadership role in many education related organizations throughout Mississippi. She was often recognized for her innovative ideas and excellence in leadership. Mrs. Reese was a faithful member of Carmel Baptist Church for over fifty years teaching the senior adult ladies Sunday School Class and serving her church in several other ways. She was a gracious and wise woman who was much loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Bryant (Ricky) L. Reese, Jr. and his wife Jo Ann of Meridian; grandchildren Dana Pippen and her husband Jeff, Amy Reese, and Leslie Reese and his fiancé' Anita Thomas; great-grandchildren Will Reese, Amber Eshee and B.J. Eshee; step brother Lester White and wife Peggy; sisters-in-law Jan Tomson and Janie Reese and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bryant Reese, Sr. her parents William and Flemmie Johnson; brothers Chester, Lawrence, Floyd, Dan and Lois; sisters Etta, Christine, Clara and Mary; stepmother Jewel, step sister Iva and many of her brother and sister-in-laws. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be made to the American Diabetes Association.
