Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Culpepper will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Franklin Denham, Rev. Jacob Scrimpshire, and Rev. Ben Stears officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Culpepper, age 92, passed away July 29, 2018 at Bedford Care Center of Marion.
Mrs. Culpepper was born and raised in Moundville, Alabama. After marrying, she moved to Meridian, Mississippi. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Culpepper was a bookkeeper for Bates Steel and Motor Supply Company. She was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church, where she served as nursery coordinator, bus ministry coordinator, adult choir member, and various other ministries.
Survivors include her children, Pam Culpepper Stubbs and Murphy Culpepper, Jr.; grandchildren, Erin Purvis (Nathan), Shanna Scrimpshire (Jacob), Jessica Culpepper, Leah Thomas Bellanger (Bobby), Hannah Culpepper, and Dylan Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jude Scrimpshire, Abe Scrimpshire, Zeke Scrimpshire, Murphi Raley, and Aaron Bellanger; sister, Mary Huddleston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy R. Culpepper, Sr; her parents, Fred and Hattie Mae Mills; sister, Edith Gulledge; and her brothers, Charles Mills, Frederick Mills, and Ben Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Highland Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Bellanger, Dylan Thomas, Billy Beddingfield, Alan Harwell, Barry Gough, and Robert Delk.
