Ruth Avery Dubois Priester passed away peacefully asleep in her home on Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 16, 1918, to Lyman Samuel Dubois and Martha Avery Dubois. She graduated from Belhaven College in Jackson and later worked as a case worker for the Meridian Welfare Department. Ruth was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, and later, St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Jackson. Ruth will be remembered by her family and friends as wise, loving, and always considerate of others. Ruth is survived by her son, Virgil Lyman Adams (Mary Seeley), her stepdaughter, Allen Conkin, three granddaughters Avery Freeman (Coy) and Olivia Monet (Joseph), Amanda Little, two great grandsons, Jeremy and Cole, and stepson Robert Seeley. She is predeceased by her husband, Virgil D. Priester, her sister, Martha A. Waller, her brother, Worden Dubois, her daughter, Donna A. Little, step-son, Marvin Adams and her niece, Sue Waller. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for Ruth’s loving caretakers: Rosie Haymon, LaShunda Haymon, and Ida Fowler. A family graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. The family requests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
