Sally C. Brown Funeral services for Sally C. Brown will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Cameron Douglas and Rev. Lea McCracken officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Brown, age 82, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Sally Merritt Brown began a long career in politics in the 1960's when she became a Goldwater Girl. She went on to serve on both the Local Municipal and Lauderdale County Executive Committees. She was active in MS State Republican Women's Group and ran Governor Haley Barbour's campaign headquarters in Lauderdale County. Sally was recently recognized as one of the Founders of the Lauderdale County Republican Party. She was designated an Honor Agent with Liberty National Insurance Company one of their top recognitions offered. Sally also worked as a Federal employee in the Census Bureau Division. Her hobbies included sailboat racing, winning first place in the women's division of the National Catalina 22 with her boat "Different Drummer". Sally was an avid gardener and member of the Master Gardeners Club. Sally was a member of First Christian Church and sang in the choir. She is survived by her children: Walter Curtis Brown, Jr. and his wife, Melinda of Tupelo, Cherie Brown McCall and her husband, Bill, and Rebecca Brown Cooper, both of Meridian; grandchildren: Jena Brown Snow and her husband, Rex Snow, of Miami, Florida; Paul Lester, Jr. and his wife, Robin of Meridian, Breck Cooper of Nashville, Tennessee, Elliott Brown of Vail, Colorado, Christin Cooper of Gulf Port, Mississippi, and Clara Seitz, of Jackson, Mississippi, Randy McCall and his wife, Kim, of Paris, Tenn., Jonathan McCall and his wife, Rachel, of Meridian; great-grandchildren: Sarah Beth Snow, Dylan Lester, Trey Lester, Hunter Jackson, Britney McCall, Christian McCall, Caleb McCall and Katlyn McCall. She is survived by her sisters, Myra Mabry and husband, Joe of Meridian; Virginia Williams and her husband, Wray of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Beckie Robertson Berry and husband David of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Anna Merle Merritt of Slidell, Louisiana ; and brother-in-law, Cliff Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sally Merritt Brown is predeceased by her husband, Walter Curtis "Bubber" Brown, Sr.; parents, Lillian Edward Merritt and Dugan Merritt, of Meridian and her biological father, Wade Robertson of Kentucky; her brother, Robert W. Merritt of Slidell, Louisiana; and her great-grandchild, Brendal Chandler Snow. The family requests that donations be made to the MS Republican Party.
