Samuel Patrick Kidd, Sr.

November 11, 1941 — September 13, 2025

Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Patrick Kidd, Sr. will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Oak Grove Community Church on Valley Road with the Reverends Kenneth Owen and Lewis May officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Kidd, 83, of the Clarkdale Community, died Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends following an extended illness.

Up until the end, he maintained his faith and always had a smile and blessed others with his sense of humor. As a young man he joined the U.S. Navy and spent his time sailing and serving all over the world. He later enlisted in the Air National Guard, where he spent the next 27 years, serving his country while being employed through the Civil Service as a Firefighter at NAS Meridian. He was a hardworking and dedicated fireman and moved up through the ranks until his retirement, where he was acting Assistant Chief. He only stayed retired a short time before returning as a fireman with Choctaw Fire Department in Philadelphia, MS. Patrick’s hobbies and interest helped define who he was; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and later in life, reloading and range shooting which he shared with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He was a dedicated member of Oak Grove Community Church.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances Kittrell Kidd; children, Samuel Patrick Kidd, Jr, (Hollie), Robin Scarbrough Overby (Dwayne), Suzette Conigliaro (Charles), and Tim Cade (Julie); grandchildren, Chelsea Scarbrough (Eric Green), Ashley Spurlock (Joseph),  Zac Scarbrough (Abby), Hunter Smith, Madison Shepherd (D.W.), Samuel Patrick Kidd, III, (Maddison), Brian Conigliaro, James Conigliaro, Graci Kidd (Fiancé C.W. Miller), Ava Cade, and Cooper Cade; great-grandchildren, Boe Dearman, Presley Scarbrough, Eden Scarbrough, Marshall Scarbrough, Silas Scarbrough, Bennett Kidd, Brantley Kidd, Elodie Spurlock, and Elliott Spurlock; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Kidd is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sue Kidd; his siblings, George “Buddy” Kidd and Kathy Forbes.

The Kidd Family suggests memorials be made as donations to Oak Grove Community Cemetery Fund, care of Sandra Cumberland, 6979 County Road 350 Meridian, MS 39301, in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Samuel P. Kidd, III, Hunter Smith, Zac Scarbrough, Joseph Spurlock, Dwayne Overby, and John David Williamson; honorary pallbearers will be Boe Dearman, Eric Green, Brian Conigliaro,  and James Conigliaro.

The Kidd Family would like to express special appreciation to the staff and nurses at Gentiva Hospice, Baptist Anderson South Campus Swing Bed Staff, and Dr. Doug Phillips for their exceptional care and friendship during Pat’s illness.

Family and friends may express online condolences at robertbarhamffh.com.
