Sara Cobb Hall passed away on Sunday August 7 at her home in Meridian, one day before her 95th birthday. A private graveside service for family will be held at the Bay Springs Cemetery in Bay Springs, Mississippi on Wednesday August 10, with the Reverend Tom Sikes officiating. Sara was a founding member and Deacon of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sara leaves behind her daughter Sara Emma Hall of Meridian, her son Jerry Fowler Hall, III and wife Emily of Richmond, Texas and granddaughters Sally Elizabeth Hall and Sara Frances Hall, both of Austin, Texas.

She is also survived by her sister Frances Cobb Dickson of Longview, Texas; nieces Debra Bradshaw (Dean) of Longview, Texas, Diane Donahoo (Bryan) of Tomball, Texas and Candice Cobb of Dallas, Texas. Other survivors include her nephew, Maurice Hall (Cathy) of Meridian and niece, Mary Cheek Davis (Mikell) of Starkville, as well as several grand nephews and nieces.

Sara was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Fowler Hall, Jr. whom she married on January 31, 1945, her parents Seth Loraine Cobb and Jennie Fields Cobb, and her brothers Cecil, Gerald and Perrin Cobb.

Sara Cobb Hall was born in Union County, Mississippi on August 8, 1921 and graduated from Ingomar High School. She began her higher education at Hillman College, graduating from Mississippi College after those institutions merged. Sara taught at All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg and for many years worked as office manager in several of her husband’s family’s businesses and at Hart-Hall in Meridian.

Sara also leaves behind special friend and caregiver, Betty Howells, whose care brought love, joy and laughter to the last eleven years of Sara’s life. Sara was also comforted in her last years by her beloved animals Leona, Lillie and Lizzie. The family extends special appreciation to loyal caregivers LaToya Whitehead, Ada Irby, Nicole Anthony, Vickie Smith and Elaine Malone.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, from 5 – 7 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
