Mrs. Lee passed away peacefully on March 15 at her home.
She was born December 30, 1921, in Rio, Mississippi. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday of which she was very proud and thankful. Mrs. Lee was a stay-at-home Mom until her youngest was in school. She then joined the “working force”. Her career began at the Lauderdale County Court House in the tax collector/sheriff’s office and after working under several sheriffs, she moved to the Circuit Clerk’s office. Her career ended in the Circuit Court as a deputy clerk under Judge Lester Williamson, whom she greatly admired. She retired, after 25 plus years, in 1985. Employees at the Court House affectionately joked with her about her name and requested cakes be brought to work. She obliged them many times. Mrs. Lee was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Rio, MS.
