Funeral services for Reverend Sephus Drice Garrett, Jr. will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Reverend Sephus Drice Garrett, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully at Anderson Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 5, 2022.

Rev. Garrett served the Lord in ministry for over 50 years. Some of his early years in ministry were spent traveling around the country planting churches before returning to serve in his home community. Often being asked when he would consider retirement, his response was always, “There’s more for me to do for the Lord. I don’t want to miss anyone.” He was at church delivering a sermon the Sunday before entering the hospital. The countless lives touched by his faithful service simply cannot be measured.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret and his sons, Frank Garrett (Cindy), Sephus Garrett III (Katrina), and Dwayne Garrett; step-daughters, Rose Marie Anthony (Glenn), Marcia Geaubert (Glenn), and Michelle Moore;  grandchildren and great grandchildren Josh Garrett (Dana) and their children (Bryce, Breleigh, Brooklyn, and Reese), Krystal Dearman (Kyle) and their children (Tanner, Kolby, Maggie, Yancy, Hailey, and Drew), Chris Odom, Ashley McLelland (Kevin) and their daughter (Heidi), Seth Garrett, and Grayson Garrett; sister Linda Johnson (Dale) and their son, Tim (Rebecca); and members of his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Sephus Garrett and Goldie Garrett, his beloved wife of over 40 years, Glenda Garrett, and precious granddaughter BreAnn Garrett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gideons International or Project India so that his life’s work of spreading the gospel may continue.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Galyean, Nick Walton, Jason Plamondon, David Stephens, Stan Bates, and Pastor Glenn Lafferty.
