Shirley Montgomery Berney

Graveside services for Shirley Montgomery Berney will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, with Dr. Rhett Payne III officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Berney, age 89, of Meridian, passed away January 21, 2017.

Shirley grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was a graduate of Hattiesburg High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was employed by the Social Security Administration in Meridian, where she retired after twenty years of service. Shirley was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and was an active member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, among other social organizations.

Shirley is survived by a niece, Dianne Montgomery; sister-in-law, Myra June Montgomery; cousins, Rebecca Johnson, Teb Jolly, Lindy Cervantes, Rick Johnson, and Sherry Hougard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond Berney, DDS; parents, Frank and Ethel Montgomery and her brother, Richard Montgomery.
