Sidney Ferguson Curtis Jr passed away December 14, 2020, at Bedford Care Center of Marion. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. No service has been planned at this time.
Mr Curtis was born in Meridian MS, and after spending early childhood years in Newton MS, was a resident of Meridian MS from 1935 onward. He was a graduate of Meridian High School, and attended Northrop Aeronautical Institute in Hawthorne CA for a year and Mississippi State University for a year. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a 33 rd degree Master Mason, and a veteran of the US Air Force with active duty service during the Korean Conflict.
Mr Curtis spent most of his working life as an architectural draftsman. In later years, he and his wife Carolyn opened and operated Curtis Realty for a period of time, and he finished out his working career as a property appraiser. He and Carolyn traveled to many places across the USA over the years, but enjoyed trips to the Great Smoky Mountains most of all.
Mr Curtis is survived by his son Lee (Christy) of Trussville AL, daughters Sue Steingruber (Billy) of Carrollton TX and Ann Curtiss (CJ) of Thornton CO; grandchildren Shayne Newsome (Clay), Carrie Binns (Brandon), Jacks Curtiss, Lindsay Harris (Cliff) and Lauren Helton (Trey); seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and some incredibly special neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Brown Curtis; parents Sid F Curtis Sr and Lurline Faucette Curtis; and sister Clio Curtis Mayo.
