Funeral services for “Sonny” Charles Albert Miller will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Bob Followell and Brother Joe Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Sonny, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, used car salesman (The Walking Man’s Friend), and NASCAR fan, was born Oct. 2, 1942. He had a passion for motorsports, watching his daughters and grandchildren play ball, and sitting in his porch swing with a glass of sweet tea. He and Jean toured the US on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Sonny won the first ever race at Whynot Speedway back in the day. Sonny, or Papaw to his grandkids, never missed a sporting event, and could be found next to Eula cheering their teams on. Sonny also had a storied, 36-year career at the US Postal Service. Papaw Honey loved spending time with his family, and every October you could find him keeping the Queen City Fair running smoothly from the seat of his golf cart.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Jean Hatcher Miller; children, Rhonda McRae (Len) of Meridian, Kristi Watkins (Tim) of Meridian, Mary Jo Robinson (Randy) of Meridian, and Tonya Pagles (Robert) of Natchitoches, LA; Grandchildren, John L. and Wes McRae, Jake and Miller Watkins, Merrick Duvalle (Dalton), Summer Alexander (Jason), Crystal Bass (Anthony), Ashley Ballard, Matthew Pagles (Leah); And 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Brothers, Joe Miller (Gail) and James Harold Miller (Ann): Second cousin and Best Buddy, Eula Miller; the mother of his daughters, Jonnie Riddle; And his friends down at Massey Supermart Auto Sales.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Harmon and Dorothy Marie Miller, and a grandson Corey Steil.

Pallbearers will be Joe Miller, John L. McRae, Jake Watkins, Wes McRae, Tim Watkins, Len McRae, Jody Miller, Ryan Miller, Ty Miller, Dalton Duvalle, Randy Robinson, Jason Alexander, Holton Alexander, Robert Pagles, Matthew Pagles, Allen Byrd, and the Carmel men’s adult Sunday school class.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Carmel Baptist Church, Meridian, MS.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
