Stephanie Gay Mattox

August 19, 1961 — May 27, 2025

A celebration of life for Mrs. Stephanie Gay Mattox will be held at 12:00PM, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Josh Drury officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Stephanie Gay "Gay Gay" Vance Mattox, age 63, ran with open arms into heaven on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, excited to embrace her mother and father and the two babies she never got to raise. She is now free from the bondage of her earthly body after a short battle with cancer. Stephanie Gay Vance was born August 19, 1961, to Billie and Patsy Vance.

She graduated from Whitmer High School in Toledo, OH in 1979. She attended East Central Community College and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She later received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

She spent many years working in hospitals and living in Southaven, MS. In 2021, she relocated back to the area and resided in DeKalb until her death. She was a creator. Her passions were animals, art, gardening and crafting. Her family has hundreds of her beautiful pieces around their homes, serving as daily reminders of her love.

Mrs. Stephanie is preceded in death by her favorite chihuahua, Lily; her parents, Billie and Patsy Vance, and her baby; April Rose.
Mrs. Mattox is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Jeff Mattox; her sisters, Vicky Vance Tiller (Mark) and Tina Vance Thomas (Don); her three step-children, TJ, Sarah, and Michael (Ashley) Mattox and their three children; her nieces and nephews who she loved like her own, Amy Tiller Martin, Emily Tiller Wascom, Tiffany Thomas Bouchillon, and Jay Thomas, and eight beloved great-nieces and nephews who she loved spoiling with gifts and watching play ball.

She loved her friends at Liberty Baptist Church, Highway 493, DeKalb.

Memorial gifts can be made there in her name. She would love nothing more than for you to plant a beautiful flower in her memory or donate to your local animal shelter.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 11:45AM, prior to memorial services on Tuesday at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
