Steven Mickal Moore

Steven Mickal Moore, 56 of Meridian, MS passed away on Monday March 11, 2019. Steven was born in New Orleans, LA on June 10, 1962 to William Ray Moore, MD and Marie Cain Moore. Steven attended Poplar Springs UMC, later joining Central United Methodist Church. In Junior High he was invited and pledged to become a member of Phi Kappa National Fraternity, Delta Chi Chapter, a Southern Gentleman's Fraternity encouraging Social Graces centered on Community Service. Graduating from Meridian High in 1980, Steven went on to Ole Miss joining Sigma Chi Fraternity at The University of Mississippi where in 1985 he received a Baccalaureate Degree in English. Just getting started, Steven continued his education towards achieving his proudest accomplishment, a Juris Doctorate in International Trade and Intellectual Property, from the University of Mississippi, School of Law in 1990. He was self-employed as an Entertainment Lawyer in Nashville, TN. Representing all the Legends, too many to name, who called him their "Music Row's, Guitar Pickin Lawyer". Steve fought for the Artist Intellectual Property Rights. Not afraid to take on the Powers that Be. Receiving at least one Platinum Album for his work. Steven also worked throughout Europe, U.K., and former Soviet Union, attempting to introduce Wireless services, with free flow of information to the newly independent Russian people, the new Stans as he called them. Steven was an accomplished Singer/Songwriter, Studio Owner, Publisher, Recording Engineer, Record Producer, Live Sound and Lighting Producer and creator of an Independent Label, High Cotton Records. He authored the book, "The Truth about the Music Business. A Grassroots Business and Legal Guide" artistpro Publishing. A Professional and Technical Reference book for Thomson Course Technology. Steven even helped get Legislation passed working with the likes of Senator Orin Hatch.
Steve wanted his dearest friends to know he cared for them "so much more than they could ever know".
He had become concerned over the condition of our Oceans and Waterways of Late, This became his chosen cause, so to remember him, perhaps help clean up our Waters through awareness, actions or contributions, in his memory. Steve's last request was to be laid to Rest with his Beloved Mother, Marie Cain Moore, and Best Friend, Mentor and Big Brother Richard Jeffrey (Jeff) Moore at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Highway 39 North. "
Survivors include his sister, Tamara Moore Kolbo of Hattiesburg, his niece, Ann Marie Brahan of Hattiesburg, and his nephew, John William Brahan of Sherman Oaks, CA.
We will announce a Memorial Date when firm pending Family availability, probably a Saturday in May, no later than June 10, his Birthday.
