Steven Ray Perry

Steven Ray Perry, 66, of Quitman, MS, passed away at his home Saturday, October 3, 2020, after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born April 20, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Edward John Perry Jr. and Joyce Katherine Williams Perry. The family moved to Quitman when Steve was 16 years old. He was a 1973 graduate of Clarke Academy in Pachuta, MS.

Mr. Perry worked 27 years in law enforcement before retiring from the City of Memphis Police Department in 2003. He earned several awards, including a Life Saving Medal. He started his law enforcement career with the City of Quitman Police Department in 1976 and also worked for the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department and Clarke County Ambulance Service as an EMT.

He was an avid collector of books, stamps and other collectibles. He loved being on the road on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His prized possession was his limited edition 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Bozeman of Quitman, and Stephanie Koplitz of Biloxi, MS; his grandchildren, Brandon and Abbey Koplitz of Biloxi; and Jordan and Reid Bozeman of Quitman; his brother, Eddie (Stephanie) Perry of Texas; his sisters, Cher (Andy) Bench of Greenville, TX, and Rachelle Perry of Richardson, TX; sister-in-law, Donna Perry of Pearl, MS; and a host nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Joyce Perry; and brothers, Herman Ray (Hope) Perry of Cecilia, LA, and Michael Perry Sr. of Pearl.

There will be no arrangements at this time.

The family would like to thank Dr. Eubanks and Anderson Cancer Center staff; Anderson third floor nurses, Kayla, Kristy, and Kinoka with Harper’s Hospice, Dr. Nance, Dr. Hailey and staffs for all their kind, compassionate care during the last three years.
