A funeral service for Sue Read will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM with Brother Eddie Painter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, April 27, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM. Burial will be in Rush Cemetery in DeKalb, MS. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Peggy Sue Read, age 76 of DeKalb passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Grenada Living Center.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Painter (Eddie) and Jerry W. Read, II (Jane); grandchildren, Elisabeth Painter VanTuinen, Angel Barrios (Ian), Emily Rodriguez (Joe), Jerry W. Read, III, Hayden Read (Brittany), and Laken Read; great-grandchildren, Cody Painter, Lily VanTuinen, Nathan Read, Presley Rodriguez, Bennett Read, Madelynn Rodriguez, and Adelynn Rodriguez; nieces, Christy Hackworth, Teresa Howard, Suzan Keebler, and Ashley Pierce; nephew, Ken Thomas; numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Read; son, Chris Read; parents, George and Ardell Thomas; brothers, Eugene Thomas, Marvin Thomas, Leo Thomas, and Kenneth Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Ian Barrios, Mitch Pavao, Wiley Harrison, and Cody Painter.
