Sylvia Gray Boswell, age 82, of Meridian, MS passed to her forever home March 13, 2025. She will truly be missed, but we know she is now at peace with Jesus, her family and friends who went before her.
She was the epitome of unconditional love and sacrifice; always putting others before herself. Everyone that knew her, commented on her beautiful smile and true hospitality.
She found great joy in baking, especially during the Christmas season when she would gather her grandchildren to make cookies; creating memories to be cherished. Whether Sylvia (mamaw, granny, grams,...) was making homemade chocolate pies or a Sunday dinner, where fried okra was a must, she poured love into everything she made.
John 15:9-"As the Father has loved me; so I have loved you..." She lived out this verse and made sure everyone knew just how deeply they were loved.
She loved sitting on her front porch whether alone or surrounded by family- drinking coffee and reading her bible or one of the many books she owned.
Sometime during her last days, she would ask God why she was still here. We would remind her, her love for us and her daily prayers were still needed until God said it was time. Mom, rest easy because your time here is done.
"Welcome home my good and faithful servant."
She is survived by her children, Aubrey Chatham, Rhonda Posey (Ricky), Paul Chatham (Cheryl), Eddie Boswell (Daphne) and David Boswell (Stacey); grandchildren, Stephanie Chatham (Ricky), Bobby Simpson, Kimberly Simpson, Jennifer Simpson, Corey Chatham (Nathalie), Nikki Mabry, Miranda Ricks (Tyler), Magen Chatham (Mark), Amy Pewitt (Kevin), Celeste Boswell, and Chloe Boswell, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Boswell, parents, Sidney and Sadie Avera, siblings, Bobby Avera (Tommie) and Ethel Dean Catlett (Joe).
Pallbearers will be Keith Avera, Corey Chatham, Lowell Ray Chatham, Bobby Simpson, Tyler Ricks, and Joe David Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Avera, Kevin Avera, Mark Bedingfield, and Robert Catlett.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Sylvia requested memorial donations be made to The Gideon International Bible Ministry.
Visitation will be from 12:30 - 1:45 PM at the funeral home prior to services.
