Funeral services for Thomas Eric Smith will begin at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Interment will follow at Damascus Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Kemper County. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 59, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.

Eric was a wonderful and loving father; he was the best brother and uncle as well as a loving son. He will be dearly missed by his entire family. He worked for over 30 years in the grocery business and will be missed by many of his patrons from Cash Saver. He was also well known for his cooking skills in his younger years at Waffle House.

Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Bobby Joe “B.J.” Smith; father Thomas Edward “Tommy” Smith; step-father, Buddy Dickerson; Sisters, Kathy Webb, Bonnie Manthey (Tony), Cheryl Chatham (Paul); brothers, Kevin Neal (Terresa), and Jarrod Guice as well as a host of nieces, one nephew and great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three chihuahua’s, Britney, Penny, and Ginger.

Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Dickerson, step-mother, Jeanette Smith; Paternal Grandparents, Ollie and Willie C Smith and Maternal Grandparents, Gill and Myrna Rangel, and one chihuahua, Little Bit.

The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses of Rush ICU south for their exceptional care and compassion; especially Emily, Hailey and Bill.

The family suggest memorials be made to The Gideons International in lieu of flowers.
