Thomas E. "Tommy" Smith

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas E. “Tommy” Smith will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Smith, 83, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Tommy was a hard worker, a devoted and loving father, and a faithful church member. Mr. Smith was a longtime member of Northcrest Baptist Church and was especially involved with the Men’s Senior Group. Mr. Tommy loved the Lord and sought to make Him known to all he met.

Mr. Tommy is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Chatham (Paul), Kathy Webb, and Bonnie Manthey (Tony); stepchildren, Larry Gilbert (Gail), Kathy Chalfan; eight grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Brothers, Bobby Smith (Betty), Randy Smith; and sister, Dianne Pace (Scott) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, special friend, Cathy Raley, and a host of extended family members.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Willie C. Smith; wife Jeanette Smith; son, Eric Smith; step-daughter, Susan Phillips; and step-son, Greg Gilbert; as well as the mother of his children, Minnie Dickerson.

Pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Paxton Smith, Scott Pace, Gary Frederickson, Tyler Ricks, and Mark Beddingfield. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class of Northcrest Baptist Church.

The family requests memorials be made as donations to Northcrest Baptist Church Building Fund or to Gideons International in lieu of flowers.

The Smith family will receive guests from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, July 17, 2020 at the funeral home. Facial coverings are required prior to admittance into the funeral home.
