Thomas Kenna (Ken) Walker

d. January 11, 2013

Thomas Kenna (Ken) Walker Services for Thomas Kenna (Ken) Walker will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Fields, Reverend Bruce Fields and Reverend Wade Ricks officiating. Burial will be in First Baptist Church of Collinsville Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Walker, 53, of Meridian died Friday, January 11, 2013, at James T. Champion Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. He was a member of the 186th Tactical Reconnaissance Group of the Mississippi Air National Guard from 1980 until 1983 and was in the United States Air Force from 1983 until 1987. Mr. Walker worked at Lockheed Martin where he worked until he could no longer do what he loved to do-knowing that the life of someone's family member would depend on the quality of that plane. He took pride in the workmanship that went into building planes. He enjoyed flying RC planes and helicopters with Lauren. Ken loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed "Old Family Photos and Movies: hearing stories over and over again from his dad of "old times at Grand-pops and family." He enjoyed laughing and making people smile. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where he and Vanessa worked in AWANA. Ken is leaving a wonderful "Gift" to Lauren and Vanessa knowing that he is in Heaven with His Lord and Savior. Survivors include his wife Vanessa Kaye Barnett Walker, daughter Lauren Kenna Walker, parents Thomas R. and Dotsye Walker, brother Winston Walker and wife Rhonda, nieces Laine and Brooke Walker and numerous loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Bessie Walker, Maternal grandmother Maggie Bell Coon and maternal grandfather Stonewall Jackson Ray, Jr. Pallbearers will be Kevin Smith, Tony Grice, Ken Butts, Scott Cooksey, Ray Bible, Sean Whitney, Mark Kirby and Billy Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class and Friends at Lockheed Martin. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
