George Timothy Weir, lovingly known as Tim, age 67 of Quitman, MS passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at University of Mississippi Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Born on August 9, 1957, in Meridian, MS, Tim was the son of George W. and Geraldine Weir. Tim was a proud graduate of Meridian High School, Class of 1976 where he played football and baseball.
Tim was married to Shalayne Weir, his devoted wife of 42 years. Together, they built a loving family, including their children Jared (married to Kayla) and Katie (married to Clay). Tim adored his five grandchildren—Jake, Jasper, James, Cooper, and Wells—who were the pride and joy of his life. He would drop everything to spend time with them, cherishing every moment.
Tim made a lasting impact on his community through his career at George’s Dental Lab, where he dedicated himself to serving others with skill and compassion. A man of deep faith, Tim was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church, where he actively served in many roles over the years.
Despite facing significant challenges in his youth, including surviving cancer and losing an arm as a teenager, Tim lived life to its fullest with a larger-than-life personality. Known for his ever-present smile and gift for connecting with people, Tim never met a stranger. He became an inspiration to many, remembered as the man who could do more with one arm than most men could do with two.
Tim’s mischievous side brought joy and laughter to those around him. As a jokester and prankster, he loved stirring up mischief and making people smile. But above all, Tim will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering dedication to helping others.
Tim’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Shalayne; his sisters, Paula Williamson and Debbie Robinson (Charles); his children, Jared (Kayla) and Katie (Clay); and his beloved grandchildren, Jake, Jasper, James, Cooper, and Wells. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Geraldine Weir, and his brother, Terry Weir.
Pallbearers include Justin Brewer, Sam Copeland, Mike Fikes, John Gary Riley, Randy Robinson, Charles Robinson, and Michael Williams.
The family requests that memorials be made to the benevolence fund at Union Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 10:45 am on Saturday at Union Baptist Church.
