Services celebrating the life of Mr. Tommy “Wayne” Hurtt will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Church in Kemper County with Reverend Lynne Anderson Officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery. The Hurtt Family will receive guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2026, at the funeral home. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Hurtt, 73, of DeKalb, passed away peacefully Friday, February 20, 2026, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Wayne was born May 1, 1952, in Meridian, Mississippi. On October 6, 1973, he married the love of his life, Rebecca Anderson, in DeKalb, MS and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Wayne dedicated more than 40 years of service to Davis Tractor, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. He had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family and friends. Wayne was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Church.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hurtt; children, Anna Hurtt and Tommy Hurtt (Mandy); his sister, Frances Sockwell (Carl); his step-brother, Randy Caldwell (Rhonda); and his cherished granddaughter, Allie Hurtt; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Hurtt; his mother, Sara Caldwell; and his stepfather, Bob Caldwell.
The family of Mr. Tommy “Wayne” Hurtt wishes to express sincere gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this time of loss. Your kindness will always be remembered.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, Jackie Pace, Van Davis, Greg Davis, and Scott Davis.
The Hurtt family suggests memorials be made as donations to Pleasant Grove Church, Dementia Society of America or to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
