Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Irby will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Odell Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mr. Tommy Irby, age 84, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away on Thursday, March 12 at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Tommy was born November 13, 1935 in Meridian to the late Eula Mae and Elmo Irby, Sr. He was a fantastic football player for Meridian High School Wildcats. Following graduation, Tommy joined the Marine Corps, went thru boot camp at Parris Island, and served a tour in Japan. Tommy worked for the City of Meridian for 51 years, retiring as the Director of Operations for the Public Works Department. Tommy was passionate about his job, passing up opportunities to retire when he became eligible.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Merle Irby; his children, Tammy Irby and Ricky Irby (Margaret); his step-children, Mike Easterwood, Todd Easterwood, Beth Singley (Tom), and Charlsa Donohue; his grandchildren, Amanda Gruetzner and Zach Irby; a great-grandson, Mason; and his sister-in-law, Maureen Irby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elmo Irby, Jr.
Pall bearers will be Hugh Smith, Jeff Warren, Kenny Blackwell, Mike Easterwood, Bill Boutwell, and Ken Storm.
Visitation will be from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be shared with The Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.
