Truman "Pete" Jones

August 15, 1945 — February 7, 2022

Funeral services for Mr. Truman “Pete” Jones will begin at 12 o’clock Noon Friday, February 11, 2022 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Dr. Scott Harrell and Jim Rickles officiating. Interment will follow at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton with military honors. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Jones, 76, of Meridian, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Pete, as he was known by many, loved to travel with his loving wife, Bobbie, especially to Destin, their favorite destination. He was a 33 rd degree Mason and Shriner. Being a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Pete enjoyed NASCAR and all things Dale Earnhardt, Sr.  A patriot from birth, Truman was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam Conflict; he came home to re-enlist into the Mississippi Air National Guard 186 th ARW serving over 25 years and retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After his retirement, Pete enjoyed his morning visits with his fellow coffee group members, meeting weekly at Queen City Truckstop. Mr. Pete was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bonita. Pete was an inspiration to many who knew him, with his spirit and tenacity, he was a joy to be around.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of over 46 years, Bobbie Jones; their children Sherry Dean (Cindy), Jerry Corley (Natalie), Jo Mattox (Don), and Michelle Head (Steve). Grandchildren, Chris Dean (Ashley), Justin Dean (Tracey), Christopher Kent, Sarah Thrower (Hunter), and Jeremy Corley. Great-grandchildren Talon Dean, Cooper Dean, Jude Dean, and Leo Dean, as well as his four-legged companion, Buffy, and a host of extended family members and friends.

The Jones family suggest memorials be made as donations to the East Mississippi Veterans Memorial Park c/o East Mississippi Veterans Foundation P.O. Box 4755 Meridian, MS 39304 in lieu of flowers.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents J.D. and Katie Jones.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dean, Justin Dean, Jeremy Corley, Christopher Kent, Don Mattox, and Steve Head with Frank Evans, Joe Pat Lannon, Gene Anderson, and Gerald Goodin serving as honorary pallbearers.
