Funeral services for Turner S. Pigford will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 2:30 p.m., at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Brother David Sellers and Brother Wade Ricks officiating. Burial will be in Toomsuba Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Pigford, 93, of Collinsville, passed away May 28, at Bedford Care Center. Mr. Pigford was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville, and helped establish the Builders for Christ organization. He graduated from Dixie High School, EMCC, and Mississippi State University, and was an avid Bulldog supporter. Mr. Pigford was an educator, having been a teacher, coach, and principal, and served as Superintendent of Lauderdale County Schools in the early 1960's. After retiring from education, he worked at the State Employment Service in Meridian, where he eventually retired. Most people will remember him by his dedication to helping others, his dedication to his church, and his Christian character and integrity. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Pigford; nieces, Kathryn Dell Coker, Elaine (Jack) Jackson, and Lyndia (Alton) Parten, and nephews, Tommy (Gayle) Butler, Gary Pigford, Wayne (Elizabeth) Lagrone. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eloise Lowery Pigford; his nephew Charles Coker. Pallbearers will be Ricky McKay, Jason Mowdy, Bryce Butler, Eric Butler, Dewayne Parten, Brad Parten. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmie Rowell, Billy Allen and Danny Luke. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
