V.J. "Mayor" Crenshaw Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Southern Methodist Church, with Reverend Damon Williams and Reverend Rick Pigott officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Southern Methodist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Crenshaw, 78, of Martin passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at his residence. V.J. loved his family, friends and his hunting dogs. He was a charter member of Antioch Southern Methodist Church and loved the Martin Community, for which he was nicknamed the Mayor. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his grandchildren compete. He was an All-American basketball player in high school and at East Mississippi Community College. He raised walker dogs and competed in field trials and fox hunted for over fifty years. Mr. Crenshaw was an avid outdoorsman Mr. Crenshaw had many friends and family he enjoyed spending time with, including being a mentor to several young men through the years. He was retired from Roadway Express and he also worked at Western Auto. Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Brenda Crenshaw; daughter, Tonya Crenshaw and his granddaughter, Gabrielle Gay; step-son, Neil McKeithen (Beth); step-daughter, Melanie Hogan (James); grandchildren, Jodi McKeithen, Colton McKeithen; sisters, Pearline Wright, Jean (Dave) Cruz and Earline McCarter. He was preceded in death by his parents, V.J. and Fairie Brown Crenshaw; sisters, Josephine Smith and Betty Turner, his wife of over thirty years and mother of his daughter, Tommi Will Crenshaw. Pallbearers will be Wade Spears, Jason Smith, Bernie Herrington, Garret Touchstone, Colton McKeithen, Tony Herrington, and Jeff Scarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be his hunting buddies.
