Valerie Turrell Roberson

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Valerie Turrell Roberson will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow graveside rites at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 10:00 until 10:45 on Thursday prior to the service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Valerie Turrell Roberson passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Valerie Roberson was born on January 21, 1938, in Wiggenhall St. Mary, Norfolk, England. She grew up during World War II, shared many stories from her childhood, a favorite being as a young girl she portrayed the angel each Christmas in the children's nativity program, and was chosen because of her very blonde hair. She attended Old Hunstanton Primary School, then Hunstanton Secondary Modern School, known locally as "The Glass House." During her school years, she excelled in athletics as a runner and county champion hurdler.

In 1956, she met the love of her life, Mr. Johnny Preston Roberson, who was stationed in England while serving in the United States Air Force. Valerie and Johnny were united in marriage and shared 66 devoted years together. In 2006, they celebrated their Golden 50th Wedding Anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

Valerie was a dedicated member of Marion Community Methodist Church, where she faithfully served in many capacities. She especially loved being part of Vacation Bible School, cherishing the opportunity to share her faith and connect with children and families.

She is survived by sister, Brenda Turrell Love; her daughter, Sharon LeJeune Fisher (Christopher); her son, Michael Roberson (Ellen); her grandchildren, Leslie LeJeune Solomon (Justin), Kate Roberson Junquera (Max), and John Phillip Roberson (Jennifer); her great-grandchildren, Jackson Wayne Solomon, Laurel Anne Solomon, and Jack Preston Roberson; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Valerie was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny P. Roberson; her parents, Frederick Henry Turrell and Kathleen Rebecca Turrell; her brothers, Frederick Turrell and Barry Turrell; and her sister, Jillian Turrell Mamone.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Marion Community Methodist Church, P.O. Box 17, Marion, Mississippi 39342.
